Traffic Flow over bridge ports

Thu Jul 27, 2017 9:13 pm

Have a 2011 we want to bond a SFP port to an Ethernet port with out the router interfering. If you set both ports to Master=none,
create a custom bridge, and don't have any IP's on these 2 interfaces will the router do nothing to or with this traffic? Basically, I just want to electrically isolate a cable connection.
done this and haven't lost a cable modem in 6 years while everyone else modems fry in lighting storms. The cable modem is floating with the 2011 so there is no
reason to invite transients since there is no path to ground. Yes it is against many codes - but no one has access.
I'd rather not stock a data isolator when i have a lot of MT's around. Not sure if a SIP Modem would work with Mikrotik SIP adapters. Or can anyone recommend
a SIP Docus 3.1 Cable Modem?
