Upgrade from hAP ac to hEX & hAP ac lite tower & cAP lites

Fri Aug 04, 2017 11:39 am

Greetings,

Have 100/50 internet connection.

Using hAP ac for about 12 months. Once configured it has run perfectly. It will be used in new configuration too.

Bought the new hEX so can make use of IPsec Hardware encryption for hopefully faster remote connections and potentially TheDude in the future.

The plan is for the modem to connect to the hEX then wired to the existing hAP ac and an existing Ubiquiti LocoM2 bridge (combined throughput in excess of 150Mbps) to ether 1 on the hAP ac lite tower and onto a PoE switch to cAP lites.

1) Having issues migrating the settings from the hAP ac to the hEX. The Quick Set on the hEX only has an ethernet option. I have tried manually adding the setting from the original device through winbox and have also exported the config to Notepad++ and copied the appropriate sections into the hEX, with and without any default configuration.

I have also referred to the guides that I originally used to configure the hAP ac but potentially something has changed with my ISP, Telecom Malaysia (TM) UniFi and absolutely no point calling their tech support as they frown on not using their supplied equipment.

2) hAP ac connected to LocoM2 bridge and the ac lite tower, only gets throughput of 6-7Mbps. I have tried using the various modes (including cAPsMan) and cannot get more than 8Mbps. When the speed test tool in either of the M2s it reports TX and RX both well in excess of 85Mbps and combined totals >150Mbps. I would be happy with anything above 50Mbps as on running a few cAPs that will be QOS down and 4x IPTV cameras.

Thank you for reading this far. I guess what I am asking for is a logical approach to solving my issues? I am more than happy just to be pointed in the right direction to resources as I need to solve this issue.
