there is a same mac address device on your connection... check disconnected pppoe_client device mac address.

if you want to use as like this you can disable this option go /interface pppoe-server server and set one-session-per-host=no

I also facing the same issue
I know I can resolve this issue just setting one session per host = no

But in log it says "session already active closing previous one" then why it not close previous session and start new session automatically

I using usermanager to authenticate and accounting for PPP users
Whenever net is down and up again in few minutes then user not authenticating due to session already active in usermanager
So every time when net is down and up again so I have to manually clear session from usermanager which user not authenticating

The problem with doing that is that it causes "fighting" between users when it happens that two users have the same MAC address.
This could happen when devices are "cloned" (backup made and then restored on another device).
Such practice could go on undetected for some time when you just allow it.

Hi people,

With Mikrotik 6.44.6 the problem is the same.
@Normis, I ask if Mikrotik solve this problem.

Best Regards

Fabrix

I an having this problem. We are not cloning devices. When we change the IP of one device, some other device begins the same behaviour.

Actually two or three CPE's are acting this way...

I'm facing the same problem.
I have approx 300 connections to a PPPoE server with over 500 sessions. Did anyone get this fixed?

Thanks

I have the same problem, but only when i changed router 4011 with 1036. I have upgrade and downgrade the 1036 router and is the same. I have created many pppoe-servers and is the same. Now i have put away the 1036 and i am using 4011.

Mikrotik team is sleeping i think.

why is this marked solved? I too have the same problem with CCR1036-8G-2S+ , running the latest long-term version 6.47.9.
Many such requests are causing mikrotik to hang.

Try returning to 6.46.8. Perhaps it will help.

Do you do NAT on the same box and do you have a "masquerade" rule for that? If so, replace it by a suitable "src-nat" rule.

I took all the "masquerade" and put netmap but the problem still remains, when they disconnect more than 500 pppoes it seems that the cpu processing increases, I forgive access to CCR1036 and when these 500 pppoe are connecting again at the same time the cpu increases and the CCR1036 is unavailable until all pppoes go up, I removed all the "masquerade" rules, but the problem remains.

I still had the problem when disconnecting more than 200 pppoe, forgive access via winbox to CCR1036, I've checked the NAT does not have any masquerade rule, I have 2 CCR1036 and it's the same someone already went through this, whenever more than 200 connections drop pppoe I get no access and CCR1036 traffic drops

Is it possible?

The problem is that setting up new PPPoE connections or tearing down existing PPPoE connections requires much more CPU attention than merely forwarding traffic.
So when you have 2000 connections the CCR can happily handle them, but when 200 are closed or newly opened at once the CPU is completely overwhelmed.
At some point so badly that it also cannot maintain the existing 1800 connections and an avalanche occurs in which all connections are broken and there is no CPU available to handle new connections either, and you have to hope that the customers slowly make their connection again instead of all at once.

This scenario is not unique, it can happen everywhere in IT systems, e.g. also with websites that get too much traffic.
