Submaps inside Submaps

Wed Oct 11, 2017 11:47 pm

Is it possible if a submap that was inside another submap would turn Both red if the on submap had something go down?

Example:

Main submap: has 5 submaps in it. If one of those goes to red it will turn the main map red too

I have been using The Dude for 7-8 years and have not figured out a way to do this yet. But - it would be a useful thing to have. To now I have always had to plan the monitoring map layouts so there is no more than 2 layers.
May be worthy of a feature request?

An interesting concept I've been exploring today could be an alternative solution to exactly the same thing...

Am trying to find out of it is possible to probe the number of downed probes of a dude server instance. Idea being that if a device is a 'dude server', then we could make a service that counts the total number of 'down' services inside that instance.

Use case is where we deploy a dude server on CHR or CCR at each customer location, and then we have our own central dude server that just includes those dude servers on our maps (or submaps) - if any device monitored by a customer's dude server goes red, then our view of that dude server goes red, thus givig a multi-layered 'submap' solution (so long as each 'layer' is headed up by a dude server of its own)

I have not determined whether that is possible yet though (probe of dude server 'down count') :-}
