hello,
Attempting to jump into the world of VLANs and a bit confused on how to start. A quick explanation of what I have existing and where I wanna go, and perhaps someone can point me in the right direction.
I have RouterOS installed on a two-port ALIX PC. ether1 = WAN ether2 = LAN. My LAN network is at 192.168.1.1/24
I'm wanting to add an additional network as a VLAN to ether2, basically creating a second network for guests. I have VLAN capable AP's (multiple SSID) and switches. I basically want to serve up two separate networks on my AP.
My question is....is it as simple as creating the VLAN and attaching it to ether2, giving it an address, DHCP server? Or do I need to take the existing network on ether2 and turn it into a VLAN and attach both my regular network and guest network to ether2 and creating a vlan trunk....?
Bear with me if my comprehension and wording is off, just trying to wrap my head around the concept of transitioning from a standard setup to integrating VLANs to an existing network.
Thanks, any point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
