Mikrotik wifi long ping latency and disconnect

Fri Jan 05, 2018 12:12 pm

Hello

I have a Mikrotik RB951Ui-2HnD. Last few weeks its wifi makes a trouble for me. It works fine initially, but suddenly ping latency becomes long (like 10000 and more - yes 10 seconds!) and my applications disconnect. I am sure that problem is in router because I have few devices connected over wifi and see same at same time. It could resolve itself in a few minutes (imagine how my applications works at this time) or I turn power off/on on router and it fixes this for few hours. The devices linked with router by cable are work stable.

Will the unit be replaced for free or money back? The unit worked stable for 18 month before.
Is it possible to reload only wifi while cable connections still work? Can I do this from web interface?

It happen second time today

What version of OS are you running?

What is the spectral scan in your neighbourhood? Do a survey with InSSID-er. Maybe you are on a congested channel.

What version of OS are you running?
Windows 10, Ubuntu 16.04, Android 4, Android 6 or you ask about router?

Will check what is InSSID-er.

Just checked inSSIDer is third party proprietary software, so to use it I have to buy it. Is there any software to fix my router issue from Mikrotik or at least free?

Update I found a free wifi scanning tool from Microsoft. Is this enough to figure out is there a channel problem? Should I scan wifi networks next time when I get long ping?

Update I tried to reboot router and I see it takes new channel every time, but never takes recommended 11. Is it possible to change channel without router reboot?

Still not understand what OS version you mean. Is this something you asked about:
[admin@MikroTik] /system resource> print
                   uptime: 7m36s
                  version: 6.30.4
               build-time: Aug/25/2015 12:59:46
              free-memory: 105.6MiB
             total-memory: 128.0MiB
                      cpu: MIPS 74Kc V4.12
                cpu-count: 1
            cpu-frequency: 600MHz
                 cpu-load: 5%
           free-hdd-space: 111.3MiB
          total-hdd-space: 128.0MiB
  write-sect-since-reboot: 96
         write-sect-total: 96
               bad-blocks: 0%
        architecture-name: mipsbe
               board-name: RB951Ui-2HnD
                 platform: MikroTik
Update I changed channel to 11 manually. As today weekend and I can spend some time to monitor I see long pings and request timeout periods happen every few minutes. Looks like channel change not helps. Any more ideas?
