Does this device provide more real WLAN throughput as the hAP ac (i saw never more than ~130MBit even if i had a 866MBit WIFI 5GHz connection) ?

Umarcus,
wireless throughput strongly depends on client wireless interface (1chain/2chain/3chain/etc.).
hAP AC and modern macbook may reach ~600-700Mbps, hAP AC to hAP AC ~700Mbps of _real_ throughput.

So its my understanding that the new hap ac has wave 2 support?

Does that mean that the driver does as well? i.e. does it support all features of wave2 already or will that come at a later stage? Can the AP transmit to multiple clients on different spatial streams simultaneously?

Ok. May be it also depend on the CAPsMAN configuration ? If yes what are the most limit factor ? The CAPsMAN (in my case CRS124) or the CAP (in my case hAP AC) ?

My phone are able to transfer more than 130MBit for sure, I saw this while connected to an AcccesPoint of other Vendor in the same Network. It reports 5GHz / 866MBit WLAN connection in both cases, but in the end the hAP AC only gave a throughput of ~130MBit.

What about matching non-secure traffic with wildcards directly in firewall? Still not possible?

Hello,

Static link aggregation on CRS112-8P-4S-IN refers to non switch mode, correct?

Thank you.

Love the POE switch. Is it really that much additional engineering expense to offer an additional version of these devices in a weatherproof case like the PowerBox? Do you believe there is no market? Outdoor equipment is the norm where we are.

only 2x2 chains? (hap ac and wap ac have 3x3 on 5ghz)

Would love a 3x3 2ghz and 5ghz design including PoE 802.3at/af support design! Stable Enterprise switches just don't do passive-poe 24V and is a nightmare to configure (shorts if you don't watch out)

Does this device provide more real WLAN throughput as the hAP ac (i saw never more than ~130MBit even if i had a 866MBit WIFI 5GHz connection) ?

See this post: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=113830

Im seeing same max speed issues (on hapAC, wAP ac) , with EXTENSIVE testings (and side-by-side comparisons, in varied environments, to other mfg 3x3 5g ac products ).

I do find it very interesting that the new AC capable APs announced today (feb 18 newsletter) are v2 of the product line, yet are 2x2 chain (when v1 of the product line was 3x3 chains). Yet the v1 products act almost exactly as if 1 of the 3 chains is not working (or is malfunctioning) (at 2.4 and more so at 5g ac).

Dont get me wrong please, Im fully aware of (and use) the power of RouterOS (its un-matched at any price point), but there is a real issue with 3 chain 5g AC on these products.

On a different note, on the newly announced CRS112-8P-4S-IN (new 8 port POE SW !), can you use 24v AND 48v POE at the same time (ie like on the ubnt edgeswitch line)?, ie on the CRS112-8P-4S-IN , can you attach BOTH 24v and 48v PSU inputs and then have some ports @ 24v passive, and some eth ports @ poe at/af ? (on many installs ive had to put 2x 960PGS (hexPOE) rb's next to each other due to needing more than 4x POE ports, or needing 24v on some eth ports (ie other MTs) , and poe on other eths (ie IPcams).

thanks!
(i love it when my inbox shows a new MT newsletter pdf!)

Ok. May be it also depend on the CAPsMAN configuration ? If yes what are the most limit factor ? The CAPsMAN (in my case CRS124) or the CAP (in my case hAP AC) ?
In CAPSMAN setup with CAPSMAN forwarding enabled the CAP creates a tunnel to the CAPSMAN controller. This needs CPU power. With CAP AC with its 4 cores I expect higher throughput.

CAP AC can be powered by 802.3at/803.3af - Did I miss something?

hAP ac2 is passive POE in, that's what disappointed me. I need those extra Gb ports, but all my infrastructure is 802.3af/at based. Not looking forward to the extra mess.

Well CAP ac has dual "PoE in" support and that is the device you actually want in an enterprise environment. 1 port in, one additional port for another access point (HAP AC lite) powered by the CAP AC.

PoE in 802.3af/at

Currently we don't have support for the wave2 features in the software for this board.
Is this support planned? All the Qualcomm SOCs these days are Wave2, it would be great if the software could support such features as client devices like cell phones have had Wave2 support for a long time as they're almost all using Qualcomm chips too.

Nice new products, but honestly there's too many those small =<5 ports routers models.
RB2011 definitely needs refresh. HeX and such are very capable but most of sites I operate needs more than 4 and less than 9 ports for LAN.
There is also lots of problems with LTE over USB modems.
Well RBM11G with 10 GE ports, usb, case, serial port and optional kit with R11e-LTE is my dream site router.

Yes, I want an 8 port switch with decent routing capabilities too. Small CRS is not up to it.

I was expecting 60ghz for 1km
it should not be a deal to make it with parabola, cut feeder on jirious 24, direct WAP to hole of feeder, profit. dont want to recall 2005 when we made wireless out of cans and other stuff, cause inventors were too lazy to make ready product

Correct me if I'm wrong, but was this not announced at the 2017 MUM EU? Some distributors got their hands on these last september I read somewhere and we eagerly anticipate them ! They had a slot on the switches page in the hardware section of the website with an R.R.P. attached but these have disapeared.

CRS328-24P-4S+RM is finally available

Wed Feb 21, 2018 1:53 pm

I've received information from our main Mikrotik supplier that CRS328 (24 PoE AF/AT) is already in production/sales.

The supplied product flyer doesn't mention the L2 IPv6 support capabilities, of course the L3 functions will be available as in other RouterOS products, but, does de equipment (and the others in the CRS line) support:

* MLD snooping/filtering?
* Filtering ICMPv6 Router Advertisements arriving on the user/edge ports? (RA guard)

I'm also waiting for a simple IPv6 ND enhancement in RouterOS, the ability to define the router priority (RFC5175/RFC4191) as HIGH/MEDIUM/LOW in multiple gateway topologies.

regards.

I ordered two cAP AC's which are now installed, and a hAP ac² to replace my 962. I was hoping to see the wave2 to pop in with my intel 9260 wireless cards, however everything is maxing at 866mbps connection

Re: CRS328-24P-4S+RM is finally available

I've received information from our main Mikrotik supplier that CRS328 (24 PoE AF/AT) is already in production/sales.

Excellent, really looking forward to the CRS328-24P-4S+RM.

Hello, I bought an RB3011 router.
I own two WAN connections with public IP and fixed optical fiber.
I would need a basic configuration for my RB3011 where I can route the outbound traffic of my LAN for one of the two WANs and the incoming traffic to local servers for the other WAN.
I thank whoever can indicate me or redirect me towards the solution.

Thank you so much!!

Why routeros devices like powerbox pro, hex poe, hap ac2 only have 16Mb flash?

With basic install, there is less then 1mb free space, trying to run a hotspot on it with just a little bit of html/img pages will run the device completely out of flash memory.

RB951xxx had 128Mb flash, flash is cheap these days, why not just a little bit more like 32Mb, 64Mb or even 128MB ram? Even CCR with 2 partitions (master/recovery) will run out 128Mb flash easily during upgrade for example

these are home routers, not really ideal for a complicated hotspot server and custom login pages.
for those devices that have a USB port or microSD slot, you can put the Hotspot directory there.

For now I am fine with 16MB flash storage. In case RouterOS v7 will ever be available I hope my universal toolbox (mAP that travels with me) will be able to run all the features with current releases.

I ordered one to replace a 962, our vender said they expect to have them around the end of march.
I am unhappy that Mikrotik has no support for any of the wave2 features however, and that i cant get a answer as to if you plan to add the features support or not

Love the POE switch. Is it really that much additional engineering expense to offer an additional version of these devices in a weatherproof case like the PowerBox? Do you believe there is no market? Outdoor equipment is the norm where we are.
I see UBNT announced an outdoor weatherproof gigabit NanoSwitch today. Looks like I may be introducing my first model of non-MT equipment into my network. Didn't really want to do this.

How is this different from PowerBOX Pro? https://mikrotik.com/product/RB960PGS-PB
Just that it's specifically a switch?

I realize I can use a PB Pro as an outdoor gig switch if I am forced. But the advantage of not using a $100 router in places where I need a $40 POE switch should speak for itself. (Yes, I realize the switch in this newsletter is $180, but it's eight ports, for I would have to buy two PB Pros.) I suspect MT could put out a four-port weatherproof POE switch at nearly the same price point as UBNT.

I agree. PB is not IP certificate.

PowerBox Pro is essentially the RB960PGS (hEX PoE) board in an outdoor/weatherproof case. And the former is $20 more expensive ($99) than the latter ($79). Now it appears that a switch similar to PowerBox Pro router would be the RB260GSP ($55.95) in a weatherproof case and with the expected price tag of $55.95+$20=$75.95. I.e. much closer to the PowerBox Pro than to the UBNT offering.
