Mikrotik Per minute basis Burst Queue

Thu Feb 15, 2018 8:39 am

Task:
User Package: 1mb
Burst Allowed : 2mb
Burst allowed duration timings : 1 mnt

Now what I want is that if user is downloading , he should get 1mb for 1 minute, then 2mb for second minute, then again on 3rd minute he reverts to 1mb, then again on 4th minute he gets 2mb. like per minute burst then revert back to original package.

Is this kind of controlling is possible?

A simple queue alone won't do the trick.

You should create 2 simple queues and add schedulers to turn on and off the queues every few minutes

Then it should be configured some way in free radius.

Why not just use normal burst for 60s?

i would love to use simple queue but problem is that if the user starts downloading big file, he starts with burst value, but after burst time (1 minute) , It gets back to max-limit and remains there until unless user stops download and remains idle forburst-time. i guess this is by design. my queue example:
add burst-limit=512k/512k burst-threshold=256k/256k burst-time=1m/1m disabled=no max-limit=256k/256k name=test target=192.168.0.10/32
after 1 mnt of burst, the user gets back to its normal package, but what i want is that after another minute user should stat burst again and so on ...

What you are asking is achievable using simple queues with bursts but the actual figures you are putting in are probably incorrect. Although you want it to be 1 minute intervals, the time option isn't actual time, its amount of time at average rate so this value will vary between the 2 limits.

so what should be the correct way to achieve this ? if user is downlaod big file lets say 1 GB via internet download manager, then at first minute he gets 512kb, then after a mnt, he gets back to actuall bandwidht that is 256kb, then after one minute he should gets back to 512kb and so on.

Here seems to be a decent post/topic about this, even has a downloadable excel spreadsheet (have not tested it myself yet) that simulates bursting
