I have some geeky neighbors and we were talking about adhoc networking, given that we all can see one anothers APs. So I am investigating the concept. Has anybody here done anything like this? Furthest neighbor is maybe 150-200 meters away.

I probably have the best antennas, I have several commercial and home-made gain antennas, so I can likely supply them with them.I don't know what HW we will use. Can Mikrotik APs run ad hoc on a virtual AP as a sort of branch link?(I can add two ext. antennas to my hAp Lite.) 100 mw is enough power to communicate a quite long distance with a good gain antenna.

BTW I am very happy with the performamce of my hAP Lite as a router and switch and for wifi.

WDS or meshing was never really standardized. Interoperability between brands is coincidential. It won't hurt to try, however.
