WAP R burn out?

Sat Mar 24, 2018 5:37 pm

Good day!
I bought WAP R for use with SIERRA MC7710. This device worked with modem around 24 hours become i setting it up and searching correct AT configutation for modem firmware. This time device was powered by original power supply via connector. All seems good on this moment. After i want to test it on site, i mounted it on the pole and powered up by original POE injector and original power supply. I powered up instance and wait for wifi signal, but it not worked out after 20-30 min waiting with some times i trying reboot by power. I take it to hands and felt it very hot and little smells like burnt. I`m removed the case and see that CPU unit and modem are very hot. After wait time for cooling i tryed power via connector and internal components become hot again. Leds blinking "wifi" and after "max signal level". What to do? Its problem with power subsystem and it burn out my modem?
P.S. Sorry for my english :)

Got my WAP LTE kit today. both has loose heatsink. Luckily I inspected mine before powering it up.
the heatsink is rubbing against solder, parts and antenna.
pretty sure it will cause overheating or short.

We haven't seen similar reports, can you please send us the serial numbers of these units to support@mikrotik.com ?
Thank you!

I have written before about loosen passive coolers. It is happening on all wap lte devices.
First thing I do is unscrew and press cooler on chip in order to avoid overheat.
Please use better glue.
