dynadish license transfer

Mon Apr 09, 2018 9:29 pm

Tower was hit by lightning , lost the lan connection to 3 dynadishes. Is it possible to transfer the license (using the mac address of the defective units) to retrieve the licenses to install on newly purchased replacements?

New devices are already equipped with the license. Nothing to transfer...

RouterBOARD licenses are not transferable. You can consider included RouterOS license within a product as a free gift which can not be used on any other equipment.

Yeah , well those lvl 4 licenses were not free. I had to pay for them , so no gratuity involved...

Be grateful that that's all you lost in a direct lightning strike.

I've had direct lightning strikes where I've burnt up ...
- dozens of ethernet surge supressors
- generator -and- transfer switch
- switches
- tower enviornmental & security system
- dozens of POE power supplies

And the worst of it all is I whitnissed all of the above turn to black smoke during one single lightning strike when I was driving by during a thunder storm.

You can't really do much to prevent direct lighting strikes - however you can have ready-to-go plans for what to do when bad stuff happens.

Note - If the voltage is enough to arc several thousand feet from the sky to your tower , then it can easily get past your lightning rod , jump/melt your surge supressors and fry anything connected by wire in any possible path to earth ground.

Yep Tom, 3 towers hit ....lost 10 radios , 4 managed switches , and a core router...spring has sprung....but I still believe that if you purchased a lvl 4 license for a device , and that device is rendered useless , then you ought to be able to transfer that license to another device , after all , you paid for it. If it were my company , you could...
