Help Wireless Config

Tue Jan 23, 2007 3:36 pm

hello, i'm a newbie to mikrotik.Since a couple days ago, i start joining this forum the get much more information about mikrotik specially at wireless.I'm planning to built a 12KM P2P link. I'm using PC (Intel Celeron 2,6Ghz + DDR 512MB) with Compex WLM54G Atheros card. For the outdoor antenna i'm using 2,4Ghz 36dBm solid dish antenna. Now i'm using ap bridge -station mode at 2372Mhz, this the status

status: connected-to-ess
band: 2.4ghz-g
frequency: 2372MHz
tx-rate: 36Mbps
rx-rate: 36Mbps
ssid: "hypernetLink"
bssid: 00:80:48:7E:1F:AC
radio-name: "BinusRobin"
signal-strength: -67dBm
tx-signal-strength: -72dBm
noise-floor: -91dBm
signal-to-noise: 24dB
tx-ccq: 84%
rx-ccq: 77%
p-throughput: 23908
current-ack-timeout: 77
current-distance: 77
wds-link: no
nstreme: no
framing-mode: none
routeros-version: "2.9.27"

In link test, i can get 3-4Mbps transmit and receive (TCP), the latency is 1-2ms . If i enabled the nstreme option(framer policy = exact size, limit =3200), i'll get 7-8Mbps , but the latency goes unstable for 12-30ms.
This's my Ap's config :

name="wlan1" mtu=1500 mac-address=00:80:48:7E:1F:AC arp=enabled
disable-running-check=no interface-type=Atheros AR5212
radio-name="BinusRobin" mode=ap-bridge ssid="hypernetLink" area=""
frequency-mode=superchannel country=no_country_set antenna-gain=0
frequency=2372 band=2.4ghz-onlyg scan-list=2300-2499
rate-set=configured supported-rates-b=11Mbps
supported-rates-a/g=6Mbps,9Mbps,12Mbps,18Mbps,24Mbps,36Mbps
basic-rates-b=11Mbps basic-rates-a/g=6Mbps max-station-count=2007
ack-timeout=dynamic tx-power-mode=default noise-floor-threshold=-70
periodic-calibration=enabled periodic-calibration-interval=60
burst-time=10 dfs-mode=none antenna-mode=ant-b wds-mode=disabled
wds-default-bridge=none wds-default-cost=100 wds-cost-range=50-150
wds-ignore-ssid=no update-stats-interval=disabled
default-authentication=no default-forwarding=yes default-ap-tx-limit=0
default-client-tx-limit=0 proprietary-extensions=post-2.9.25
hide-ssid=no security-profile=default disconnect-timeout=3s
on-fail-retry-time=100ms preamble-mode=both compression=no
allow-sharedkey=no

Is there any wrong with my config???It's true using apbridge-station wds will improve our link??pls someone help me solve my problem. I need to get minimum of 10Mbps transmit and receive link.
I would very thankfull if anyone can help me solve my problem.
thx a lot before.

for link up to 10MB/10MB try to set up nstreme-dual with four Ubiquiti radio cards....this works fine also with R52.
Before to set up the nstreme-dual try to change ap-bridge to bridge (I'm not sure that this solve the problem but all my links are station-bridge and I haven't this problem also when the link is in nstreme mode)...

upgrading to 5Ghz is not an option as he already states that he can't afford to upgrade.

ah ok, I send you my simple configuration.
I have a link at -65 with grid antennas (26dBi) and the latency is perfect (about 5/7 ms) with a troughput up to 9.5Mb/9.5Mb.
My cards are two R52. i'm sure that your wireless configurations are ok, try to do this:

/interface wireless nstreme

name="wlan1" enable-nstreme=yes enable-polling=yes framer-policy=none
framer-limit=3200

for my link this is ok....

thx willy,
seems like u used nstreme without framer-policy(none), i think it's will make nstreme work not efficiency, as i know using nstreme must be followed by framer-policy either is dynamic or exact size.
