High Ping on 2.4GHz

Sun Jun 03, 2018 7:48 pm

Hi to everyone. I have a problem with my 2.4GHz network. The Ping really high. Also I have some troubles with connecting to this network. But in the same time 5GHz network works better, could be some falls but to so often as with 2.4. What it could be? Thanks in advance.

Redo configuration from scratch.
Step by step till you will have no problems connecting all devices to 2.4GHz ... then you can start searching other problems.

Have you looked at the environment? 2.4GHz is often more crowded and more prone to interference. Recently I was looking at a deployment with 995 competing BSSIDs on 2.4GHz and 4 on 5GHz. If you have an Android phone then WiFi Analyzer is a good tool to start with. For noise sources you'll need a hardware spectrum analyzer.

Please upgrade Your router to latest RouterOS version - there are various fixes in place for issues like this.

Already did everything. Update firmware, reset all configuration and setup from zero. Also the same situation I have on the 5Ghz network. Do you what it could be?

Did you assess the environment as I suggested two months ago above? Bad RF environment would be an straightforward explanation to high ping times both on 2.4 and 5 GHz and to the difference between the two.

I often have this problem with 2.4ghz, where its un-usable, without any close networks to interfere, what helps alot is set mode to G/N, or only N if you dont need backward compatibility.

Yes, I did, this helps a little, but not solve the problem.

And problem that I have tight environment for 2.4 Network, but 5 GHz almost clear, but the prom still exist.

Start to be a little bit better, but I'm not sure, some connections losing still appears. Need to test more. Will back soon )

I am experiencing the same issue, bad ping time through 2.4Ghz, great ping time with 5Ghz, right next to the access point. Sometimes a ping will run through below 1ms, sometimes it will take several seconds to make it to the next hop!

In a controlled environment with very little interference. These are brand new cAP ac accesspoints. My older RB951 perform waaaaayyyy better.

My config to the access point is pushed with capsman, not that it changes anything. I have several brand new cAP ac and they all exhibit the same bad connection on 2.4Ghz.

Thoughts? It seems related to what MadRabbit is experiencing.
