Router IP addy over VPN?

Tue Feb 13, 2007 8:41 pm

I have a rb 532 running a dhcp server and masq. for ip 192.168.4.0/24 this is all on a very fast line with a dedicated IP in California.

Here i have a cable line and a rb 532 running a dhcp server and masq. for ip 192.168.1.0/24

I have a pptp vpn between the two MT boxes. I'm setting up an exchange server and the only think holding me up is that my ISP blocks port 25 in and out.

How can i have this exchange machine here be a part of the 192.168.4.0/24 network VIA the vpn tunnel? the idea being that the MT box in California does not have port 25 blocked and i can just run my exchnage server locally through the VPN tunnel.

I'm thinking IP routes, and some mangle / packet or connection marks.

any input or ideas??

EDIT: it would be really nice if i could NOT change the ip of the local exchange server (192.168.1.106)

EDIT2: i can buy an entire new public IP from the site in california if i need to.

thanks i will post config when done.

Just ask to your ISP provider

no big ISP will open 25 for you....what i ended up doing is i have a server with a MT router colocated at a ISP...so i used the VPN i have between there and my home to route all the ports i need through the VPN and to the box sitting next to me.

works great.

does anyone know if there is any preformace difference between PPTP L2TP and a normal, non encrypted IP tunnel?

tks
