Anybody successfully using V2.8.18? I would like to upgrade but have read on one of the wireless forums of others having problems. Not sure, but perhaps these were just wireless related issues. I'm interested to learn whether it's safe for those of us not running wireless interfaces to upgrade. Thanks!

I can just offer my experience back from a two-day installation marathon.

I did have severe problems with 2.8.18. and 2.8.19 using the "new" wireless package and Atheros 5213 chipsets on 802.11g.
To give you an impression: On point-to-point links just about 600 meters apart using 14 dBi directional antennas and a signal level of about -42 dBm I had ping times up to 600 ms on an unused link. The max. throughput I could get over the links was about 500 kB/s.
The CCQ (client connection quality) was around 3 to 20, which I read as very bad. The used frequencies were clear of other activity, and I tried other frequencies as well to rule out antenna response problems.

Switching the (then upgraded to 2.8.19) routers to the wireless-legacy package solved those problems. Ping times are below 5 ms, throughput has gone up to about 15-18 MBit/s (not using turbo mode).

So I'd suggest to test your setup before putting it into production.

OK... change that to 2.8.19. Anybody having problems with this latest release?

I'm not 100% sure if it's the issue yet but I went from 2.8.18 to 2.8.19 and using Winbox I noticed my router was reboot every few minutes. I am using Routerboards with it (the real thing)

i have very similar problems on an accesspoint (about 25 clients, 2.8.19, 802.11g, atheros mini-pci-cards).

and even worse: after switching to 2.8.19 wireless-legacy only clients with atheros wlan-cards can connect, no other (e.g. prism)

we informed support too, but haven't got an answer to this problem.

at the moment mt is therefore unusable as access-point for 802.11g. we are going to try 802.11b now, but i'am not happy with this situation.

any ideas, hints?

Hmmm... not encouraging. I am seeing some DHCP problems with 2.8.16 and since we're using Motorola Canopy for our wireless backhaul links I'd like to upgrade to get the Canopy DHCP fix made begininng 2.8.18. I don't want to trade one set of problems for another, however. Maybe better to go with the dog I know rather than the one I don't.

OK, I bit the bullet and upgraded to 2.8.19 last night. No problems so far and my DHCP problems seem to be fixed. Keep in mind that I have no wireless interfaces installed.
