Converting WAN port to Ethernet Port 2

Sun Oct 07, 2018 2:18 am

Hello everyone, I have a Hex PoE Router: RB960PGS:

I was curios to know if anyone knows how to Convert the default WAN Port Ethernet 1 to be used for Port 2, so we can use PoE for our Bach Haul.

I already have taken the Port 2 off the Bridge and changed in the interface list for WAN to be ethernet 2, but when you go into quick start and you can choose the ethernet interface were the Internet feed is coming from, it only lets you choose Ether 1 or the SFP port. This is causing a big headache is and messing up the network. I was able to get ethernet 2 to be the WAN port and it works, but the IP address for the internet settings get defaulted everytime I make this change. I know back in the older version of mikrotik you could change the ethernet ports from master and slave.. but now its being a royal pain for me.

If anyone has any information or a new mikrotik Router OS book they could point me to so I can read up more on this, anything will help.

Thank you.

If by "quick start" you mean Quick Set, then the answer is simple - don't use it. Or use it once for initial setup and then don't touch it again. It's not meant to work with changes done outside of it.
