RB951G-2HnD (6.43) - connect to internet without cables

Thu Nov 15, 2018 12:11 am

Hi All,

Would you please help to configure this routerbord like this:

1. Starting from a clean default configuration
2. Connect the router to another wifi network (non-Mikrotik device; I only have the SSID and password) as a client. This will be the internet connection.
3. Create an SSID which will allow my devices to connect on it and go to the internet.
4. Create a second SSID which will allow my devices to connect on it and go to the internet (different subnet). I intend to configure an ovpn connection to another Mikrotik and use this SSID when need it.

Restrictions:
I am not able to use any kind of cables during configuration, only wifi.

Is it possible?

Thanks in advance,

See https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:I ... s#Repeater

I would not recommend doing this without a wired connection during configuration though.

So, is it possible or not what I described?

More than that, if you send me to a generic documentation you are not helping me, because I don't have experience with this and don't have the necessary skills.

Thanks,

You should use cable when configure the router for its basic operation.
Its easy to do some and loose your connection to it.

I have done setup like this so its doable.
