Bandwidth problems with hotspots on more than one router

Thu Mar 08, 2007 7:28 pm

Hi,

I have several router 500 series boards with router os 2.7.40. I have checked and all rate limiting is removed from the default profile and from the profile that is used for the hotspot. When using the hotspot, there is a maximum bandwidth of 8 Mb available to all clients. It gets split between all users.

If I use the same client and bypass the hotspot by adding his ip in the IP binding section, I get 25Mbit of throughput on speeds tests. Though the firewall maximum 8Mb.

I have confirmed this problem on 3 hotspot sites with 3 different routerboards 525. Can some one confirm this problem?

How can this be fixed ?

Regards,

Robert

Could you post 'queue simple' export here, when HotSpot is turned on ?

Hi,

When I do an export, the queue does not print. If I do a print, here is what I got.

queue simple> print
Flags: X - disabled, I - invalid, D - dynamic
0 D name="<hotspot1>" dst-address=0.0.0.0/0 interface=ether2 parent=none
direction=both priority=8 queue=hotspot-default/hotspot-default
limit-at=0/0 max-limit=0/0 total-queue=default-small
[admin@ZiD-Router1] queue simple> export
# mar/09/2007 12:33:33 by RouterOS 2.9.40
# software id = WQ26-3TT
#
/ queue simple
[admin@ZiD-Router1] queue simple>

Thanks for bever getting back to me. :(

Anyway I will post the solution in case anyone else runs into this problem. The problem was caused by the transparant proxy. As soon I removed this from profile setting of the hotspot, the hotspot users were able to go to the full speed of the WAN connection.
