Upgrade help

Sat Nov 20, 2004 11:46 pm

I am running 2.8.17 and would like to upgrade to 2.8.19 but all of the instructions call for routers that have cd roms or floppy drives. My system is rb230 and rb220 with wireless support. Before I really screw things up, would someone please give me a step by step guide on how to do the upgrade. I read the net install but dont really understand how to do that. Is there a way to just unzip the netinstall or cd download and use procomm to ftp the files to the router? I tried that but the software does not show up at all, except when looking at it in procomm.
Please help

If you have ftp connection to this router, you can upgrade your router through it. Just simple download packages from mikrotik website, then select needed packages and upload them to that router with ftp in binary mode. Then just reboot your router.
You can make backup file and download it to local computer before upgrading, if you afraid to loose configuration.
Also remember that you should not use both wireless packages only one of them.

That was out of the manual and the web page. I had not seen this link. I have not gotten ANY support from the place I purchased this software and equipment. (Not Mikrotik direct) Where I purchased it from does not even visit this board and does not know about the trouble with the wireless package and atheros radios.
I will try via these instructions and see what I get.
thanks
