I have just powered up RB 450 G for the first time and have worked with many Mikrotik models so far - but I need to know if the RB 450 enables Ethernet ports by default - like all other Mikrotik devices I have worked on so far ?
The manual says MIDX on all ports and I have tried my laptop - ETH1 , 2- 5 ----- as well as another LAN switch (same cable works between laptop and other switch)
I don't have a serial console cable for this device - have Cisco cable but this has incorrect gender )
Have also tried factory reset by power on with reset button held in

Power LED is fine
Device BLEEPS after what seems to be a boot process

Do I have a faulty device or is the only access method via the console from first time start up ?

I have the rg450gx4 and got into a situation where I could not access the unit either regardless of what I did.
Then I attempted net install and that got me back to a working config, updated it and its been rock solid since.

I understand this would be a next logical step but surely the Ethernet ports should come active - i.e lights on , before Netinstall will work ?
I will try it anyway and report back

No joy - Ethernet port does not come up to do netinstall - will take the device back to the supplier
