SOLVED: HUAWEI E8372 4G LTE, supported but not working?

Hi all,

I'm having issues trying to get this device working, its on the supported peripheral list, it creates an LTE interface but it doesn't look like its connecting.
NOTE: The device works fine when plugged into a PC, also it was local WIFI, if I plug the device into my RB 3011UiAS, I can connect to the wifi from a mobile device and get internet access, so there's no issues there, just the 3011UiAS can't seem to connect?

Device name: E8372
Hardware version: CL1E8372HM
Software version: 21.210.09.00.00
Web UI version: 17.100.07.19.302
LAN MAC address: D0:D7:83:9D:E3:13
WAN IP Address: 10.99.17.XXX
WAN IPv6 Address: Unknown

you probably have hilink mode huawei lte modem. for this to works, try this:
1. open dhcp client, add dhcp client with your modem interface, probably lte1. i assume you already understand how to do this.
2. check if there any new ip address acquired, usually 192.168.8.100/24 added to your lte interface. huawei hilink stick usually have default ip of 192.168.8.1/24
if you have that ip, means that it working fine.

Here's what I see, so this this means its working?
Any idea how I can test it? I've tried to ping google via the lte interface, to no avail.

Address 192.168.8.100, which returns pings, is router's own address. To check if LTE stick is responding you need to ping 192.168.8.1 ...

Thanks, 192.168.8.1 pings successfully. Is there a way I can ping an external address via lte interface, eg 8.8.8.8 ?

This depends on FW settings on all involved boxes (your PC, RB and Huawei) as well as other Huawei settings. Plus settings on MNO's network (but I guess pings should be allowed by your MNO). Huawei acts as a router (doing NAT) now, but I don't know if there's a way to change any settings on it. When stick is used in a Windows PC, there's a client software that allows to set some things.

With the stick connected to the PC I can defiantly ping external sites, no problems there.
FYI, I've disabled the firewall in the HUAWEI E8372, and set the DMZ to 192.168.8.100 (which will be the mikrotik)

I've verified LTE is now working by configuring fail over and removing my primary connection.

Have you checked that you can ping external sites via the LTE interface?
ping 8.8.8.8 interface=lte1
