Hotspots and User Manager

Thu Mar 29, 2007 12:00 pm

Hey MikroTikers.

As a company we setup hotspots in student halls of residence. We would like to setup a system similar to that of a public hotspot (like T-Mobile) would offer. My bigger general question is can this be done using MikroTik? If so, what model would you recommend?

The smaller question is has anybody any experience with MicroTik in terms of setting up a central RADIUS server (user manager?) with hotspots connecting to it from all over the place?

Is it possible to setup a portal signup page where the students enter in all the information including their username and password and it updates 'user manager' automatically.

We also have the facility to take online credit card payments using SecPAY. Can I use this with MicroTik?

I would be great to speak with people who have experience in this area!

'Sign-up' option is available along with User Manager.
Authorize.net and Paypal systems are supported by MikroTik User Manager,
information about it given on wiki,

as you can modify the hotspot login/status pages, you can make them do whatever you wish, like first pass some data to some other server, receive some confirm, only then sign in. we have lots of big customers who have their own payment gateways, like boingo for example.

i hope some people with experience in this field will post as well
