wimax is late, about 5-7 years to be on the top,,in Poland you have to pay for channels, and won;t get more than 16mbps - law. I will stay with MT and 5ghz - nstreme2, bonding about 100mbps :D

Every time someone comes out with something new its the future of networking/cars/computers/whatever.

WiMax is all fluff until its proven, and I haven't seen it prove itself yet.

you can achieve more bandwidh with the selction of more channel spectrum like 7 MHZ FDD channel spectrum always gives you more then 15 Mbps per sector , on Full 64 QUAM , more spectrum more bandwidth, but also take care freqquency planing for resuse .
this secnario will work 7 km per base station site and 7Mhz. With highest modulation ie 64QAM will deliver 2.2 bits per hertz making it 15Mbps (appprox

The reality is "WiMax is here" and not going to vanish. It has major vendor, government (regulatory) momentum behind it.
Whatever the technical limitations or arguments, it's here and won't vanish. WiMax will not "go away"
The time for WiMax is 2007/8 and after that, there will be major WiMax networks worldwide.

Look at 3G: in hindsight, a flawed standard that is voice not IP-centric:
However, the $Bn spent means that it will be rolled-out and used anyhow.

As a user or developer you cannot argue against a major worldwide standard: WiMax will happen whether it's the best solution or not.
MT will either support WiMax cards (already asked for) or lose out.
Of course, today's Atheros-based MT solutions are better. But that doesn't mean commercial success.
Example, last year vendor Alvarion claimed over 50,000 WiMax CPE/connections as their market share. Do the maths ...

What's the problem with Wi-max? So simple, Wi-max isn't a reality today. If you invest in WiMax in this moment, you are wasting your money.

The products called WiMax are WiFi in other band with the addition of propietary protocols (if WiMax is an standard, can you explain to me why the products of each manufacturer are incompatibles with others?).

All the Wimax people say Wimax works well even with NLOS, but it's simply... Not air saturation yet. With thirty customers I made "impossible" connections using reflection of signal. Of course, now, with two hundred customers they don't work.

Maybe 2008 would be the Wimax year, but for now, all Wimax solutions are WiFi patched.

Like I see, MT has decided center the view in Wifi and core network services. I think that is the smartest way. If MT can fine tune the NStreme protocol, you'll have the same thing that other companies call Wimax today.

There is NLOS, and it is not because air is clear.
First - Navini for example have on each card manageable number of carriers, on CPE from 1 to 4, each carrier 500 Khz, power of CPE(not sure) 2 Watt, it is disabling power, if human coming close to CPE or taking it to hands, to not harm customer by RF. Guess now, 500 Khz and 2 Watt. Plus "smart antenna" on base.
