Well, good for you. Having your own spectrum is always a good thing ... even if you are not using it at the moment.

First question is how large is your spectrum and what you intent to accomplish with it?

There are some sources for custom made frequency converters, which is the solution I would recommend. We use some and the performance is excellent, but be careful who you are dealing with.

There are some radios I remember seeing a long time ago in that 1.8, but nothing functional, and it was very low throughput. There are also some radios tat are developed for military applications, but that wold be way too expensive.

The third option is, if my memory serves me correctly, to buy a UMTS (or was it PCS) system, but you need to check if you can use it under the terms of your license.

Only if you had 1.8 Ghz, you could have used a SR9 + Frequency mulriplier. Maybe a SR3 + Frequency divider.

In general, be careful of CDMA, GSM or similar running on 1.8GHz. Though you might be able to use MT with CDMA or GSM based modems. Not sure though, need MT to comment on this one.

We are in discussions with CDMA product designers and suppliers. Tower costs are a bit high, but comparable to Wimax BSs.

ekran: you remeber well, old JNA had some data link hardware working on 1.8Ghz (1.78 - 1.82 or 1.85) it was system for data exchange for army commands etc ... but never full developer ... produced by IRITEL i think

Well, JNA had many toys. Unfortunately, I never had a chance to play with any. just have to slobber over the stories of the ex and present communications about things such as mobile telecommunications centers (what I would give for one, at least chassis only , NATO grade stuff ... darn, with those frequencies the military would make a great WISP
