winbox Crash

I'm recently experiencing an issue where winbox connection is lost at random intervals. When trying to reconnect, it will often time out, but after 10-15 minutes I can get back in via winbox for a while...
I have upgraded, downgraded, removed winbox (and %appdata%\mikrotik) with no results.
When I can get in there is nothing in the log indicating what happened.
Help Please...

If I wait long enough I get "could not get index fatal error"

Have you tried unchecking "secure mode"? This will allow for a less than perfect connection to exist to the router and seems to have less overhead.

It happend to me when I use the Winbox for MAC Address. Try using the IP. To the first configuration use NeighborViewer
I hope you resolve the problem
Good Luck

I've tried unchecking secure mode - No Result
I've tried mac address as well as IP address - No Result
It is happening on multiple PCs and servers (XP, 2k, 2k3).
I't worked flawlessly for a long time...

check your computer for the worm w32.sality
it did the same you are talking
Worm.Sality does not affect winbox though if w32.Sality found on a computer , it crashes winbox.exe file and all exe files found on your computer drivers but you will notice double clicking on winbox file .. not reacting or not opening at all .
Replacing it with a new winbox.exe should solve it .
anyways w32.Sality will crash it again and again but this is not a solution .
