Access to an existing Mikro Tik Router

Fri Oct 18, 2019 7:39 pm

We purchased a home that was equipped with a Mikro Tik Cloud Router Switch CRS125-24G-15-RM. They owner didn't know anything about the setup and had no user ids and passwords. A 3rd party company installed all the home automation and has gone out of business so I never got the information from them. The router has worked fine, but we have started to run into an issue with more and more people visiting the home. We have run out of IP addresses. New devices that have never been on our network, can get internet access.

So I need to get logged into the Router OS and see how the configuration is setup but I have no idea what the user id and password are. I have tried any defaults and they don't work.

Is there any other way to plug directly into the Router and get to a console? I see there is a serial port, but I am not sure what to plug in there. Even the small LCD screen on the device has an edit function, but then asks for a PIN.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi

If you're in the UK, give us a call on Monday - we may be able to help you get into the router and reset passwords etc without losing the configuration. But please don't play with the reset button, you may end up wiping the whole thing :(

I am in the U.S., but I don't have an issue calling you in the U.K. I will try you Monday. Thank you for reaching out.
I did not want to click on the reset button for the reason you mentioned. I have used basic wifi routers (ASUS) and have a good understanding of DNS, DHCP, but never worked with a commercial grade router.

Can you see what the installed version of RouterOS is?
