It's not as simple as just "including DPDK". DPDK is a kernel bypass mechanism where the packets are passed straight from the NIC hardware to a user space process. This means that the user space process needs to implement a TCP stack and forwarding mechanisms.... There are some open source implementations that do this, e.g. OpenDataPlane/OpenFastPath/VPP however the integration into something like RouterOS would be no small task.It would be great to see if Mikrotik could include intel's DPDK for the intel NIC's in ROS 7 at a later stage, this would allow ROS to scale up past 100Gbps routing with ease.
