Normis, have you negotiated a special rate for accomodation during the Prague MUM? Where?
As far as I can see the hotel part of O2 will not open until 2021.

There is no hotel, the event is so big, that it will take place in a conference center. You can pick any hotel in Prague, the city is very nice and I recommend staying near the old town.

Thank you Normis, I will look.
However, considering the number of attendants, I assume that Mikrotik has the power to negotiate a good price in one ore more hotels..?
Also convenient to stay close to where other attendants are.

Hotels only negotiate price if we also book those rooms ;) We don't sponsor rooms for attendants.

I know you don't sponsor.
But for most (all?) of the MUMs I have attended, you have negotiated special rates that we got using a registration code. A number of rooms were reserved, not booked.
Booking was made indiviually by the attendants on a first come, first serve basis.

However, I will look at booking.com.

Booking.com price is always better, even with MikroTik negotiated deals. Booking.com promises to lower the rate, if you find cheaper price ;)

Seriously what a fail, you put CAT6 modems capable of up to 300mbit and than you put 100mbit lan ports on those 2 external routers?

in this case CAT6 is not about speed, but about better coverage. Using the aggregation feature, you can get better signal, where there was no signal before. Otherwise you would not need such a big antenna, if we would be aiming for speed in good coverage areas.

Did you notice that the 100Mbit port is only on the large antenna products? The smaller indoor/city units have Gigabit.

ivicask:
This is something that puzzles me as well: MT try to save dimes by adding Fast Ethernet NICs instead of GB, use plastic RJ45 sockets that break in the cold (RB711 and indeed a long time ago, eventually they realized the failure but still....), failed to add buzzers to many of their RBs, failed to add the universal bracket used by Omnitik, SXT and Disc for years to the SXT sq in order to decrease package size, add 0,4A Power Supplies along with the SXT sq and Disc....which are much more prone to failure by overvoltage spikes.
I'd rather pay $1 extra for each of these features :-)

That said, I'm a long time user of MT products and I love them, but saving a few cents on things like this seems meaningless to me :D

Yes, but this external router have better antena, comboed with CAt6 + 1Gbit LAN would be dream device for our customers.

The inside model will have signal issues, even prev models have very problematic signal and speeds compared to similar priced product from like Huawei.

Currently providers in Croatia give routers like Huawei B525, which is CAt6 without CA,for example at one customer inside it reaches around 40-50mbits, while when you connect small external (outside)antennas they go to 150mbit, even placing them outside sometimes doubles speed, but of course those arent external modems.

I was hoping for product like this where i can avoid external antennas and get max signal by placing router outside, but with this 100mbit ports this dream falls in water for now.

Hope you listen to us and gives us model with 1gig ports in future, and even higher CAT modems.

Uldis, you can use any antenna, as long as it has the connector to fit on the LTE card, and is made for the frequency you will use (need to check your mobile operator band)

We do offer LTE cables and antenna, but there could be more offers in eBay or elsewhere: https://mikrotik.com/products/group/lte-products

I have the same comment re 100 Mbps Ethernet ports with the Cube Lite60. Seems crazy to me. I wouldn't mind so much but there is no 1Gbps version. I really can't see why anyone would buy it with only a 100 Mbps port on it.

It's a low cost CPE for using 8 CPE + 1 AP. If you split one gigabit to 8 CPEs, you don't need more than 100Mbit.
We have other models with 1Gbit ports, if you are interested, but not the CUBE

"If you split one gigabit to 8 CPEs, you don't need more than 100Mbit."

I beg to differ, as I suspect would most Wireless ISPs!

Also, you market them as good for 800m point to point links - we would certainly buy them for that - but not with a 100 Mbps cap on throughput.

And, they would also be excellent for "feeding" the 60GHz AP device locations - but not with a 100 Mbps cap on throughput to the AP.

We never buy the Lite 60 GHz SXTsq for the same reasons, only the "heavy" ones (ie, the wAP 60G with 1Gbps ports).

Sorry, but I really do not understand the logic here.

The cube60 is made to be a cheap and simple way to make a PtMP with 60Ghz over a not so big area, and even if you had a 1Gbit version (which there are, you have the wAP and the Wireless Wire Dish), you cant get more out then you can get in...(As you only have a 1Gbit port on the devices) Just having 100Mbit is more then enough for most use. What would require that you have more then that in a PtMP situation? If it were PtP, then use the devices made for it. There are often use cases behind the design of most devices.

Hi Normis,

in 3 datacenters we are dealing with a new HA setup, because in the last year in two CCR1036 power supplies died and in one CCR1036 it reports CPU 100C +, even if it is idle, so it will restart or hang. Here is my colleague's post: https://www.reddit.com/r/mikrotik/comme ... _i_can_do/. Newest CCR1036 with dual PSU solve our problems only partially.

We have been waiting for a year for the announced new switches. Is there any real chance that Mikrotik will release a stackable L3 switch in the next three months? We need to decide what routers and switches to buy and stacking is critical to us because of VMware redundancy.

Thank you for your response :)

This statement is wrong considering contemporary internet use with 1 gb/s you can sell 8 x 500 mb/s or faster plan... so a gigabit version of the cube for mid distance would be interesting.

Also a gigabit version would be interesting as AP in some scenarios

We need mid cost, like 20x20cm dishes with narrow beam for CPE to work in around 500m range, GE is must. Yes you have RBwAPG-60ad with gigabit, but with 60deg beam it is not needded for CPE.

I hate such bottle necks as much as you do.

But let's face it: in reality vast majority of users of this modem most of time won't get speeds that would demand 1Gbps ethernet port. Either the distance from the cell tower means too low signal strength to get high speed (at least on high bands) or the cell tower serves many other users competing for precious resources or MNO won't sell subscription plans with unlimited speed ... or, quite likely, all three of them.

But then, 5G is right behind the corner ...

But let's face it:
I have excellent Signal, so i Upgrade from cat 4 to cat6. I forgot to compare the ethernet speed. Now, old and New Devices have the same Speed, as ethernet is the limiting factor.... Even LHG has only 100mbit, only the wap has GBit, but antenna is to small for my place... So, i just had to say that i am quiet unhappy....

+1 for a device like a Cube (not lite) - going to 300-500 metres without needing a large dish would be a real bonus for us. The problem with bigger dishes around 30cm is we struggle to get permission for them; many of our rural installs are in conservation areas where people other than the homeowners get a say. The closer we are to a really compact (i.e. hard to see from the road) device, the more installations we can do. But we've a decision not to use 100mb anywhere. I note UBNT are bringing the fight to MT with Gigabit on their 60GHz products regardless of form factor. Are MT still up for the fight in this exciting frequency band?
