When rx-a/tx/b (or rx-B/tx-a) better than a single antenna?

If it works, it can allow one to use low power bands for longer distance outdoor links. In NZ max EIRP for 5.25-5.35GHz outdoor is 250mW, which means little more than a 10db antenna can be used. A point to point link of several kilometers can be made given this low EIRP if high-gain antennas are used for receive.

I am much more interested in working diversity receive - has anyone had it working? I have a 12.5k link over saltwater that is affected by tides @ have been advised that a second receive antenna placed a few wavelengths higher w/ diversity receive enabled on the radio will help overcome the regular twice-a-day fade.
