I just came to know tht older version of winbox 2.0.8 works on wine and newer versions of winbox 2.2.10 hangs. Had anyone had problems like this on linux mandriva spring 2007.

I used Winbox (latest version at the time) on Mandriva 2007 (not the spring edition) with no problems.
Have you tried to update wine?
