Hello,

I just installed 2.11 on my CRS317. Hoping that it would solve the switch its reboot problem. The / my CRS317 switch does not proberly reboot after rebootcommand or powerup, see my post in 2.10 a couple of days ago.

However, that problem is still there. The switch did not properly reboot after installing 2.11 (same problem in 2.10). Disconnecting the power for a minute did solve the problem, but that is of course not ok!

Two CSS326 10G connected back to back. We had Tx pause frames both sides when flow control is off in version 2.10.
Upgraded to 2.11. Now we have Rx pause frame increasing both sides with flow control off...

Just upgraded and we have an issue where our SFP+ connections do not work after reboot, we need to pull and replug them or disable and enable them to get them to work again. Any hints for us? We are using an CRS312-4C+8XG.

Hi from a new fairly fresh owner of CRS328-24C-4S

We need help with this firmware upgrade on our switch.

Did an firmware upgrade from 2.10 to 2.11 via SwOS browser page "upgrade" - same as we did it to 2.10 app. 3 weeks ago when we first got it.
Everything looked normal, but after reboot SwOS does not want to boot (fans keep spinning up&down every 5sec, all lights go on & off - are still spinning after 30mins) but the SwOS never starts.
A cable of a laptop plugged in states "Cable unpluged".
Switch is not reachable on a static IP that was defined before /and worked) even if it is defined in RouterOS for SwOS static IP.

We can get the switch to boot into RouterOS on 192.168.88.1 if we hold "Reset" button on a switch for a couple of seconds, but would prefer SwOS as it was supposed to be a simple setup.
Config reset of a SwOS in RouterOS did not reset switch to factory default as we wanted to repeat our setup from scratch, but seems to remove only our SwOS settings.
I can not see what is current installed firmware version.

We would at least like to revert to 2.10, but none of the things we tried so far worked.
We uploaded the swos-css328p-2.10.bin to "Files" via RouterOS - but did not find a way to install it that way.

Advice appreciated.
Thank you,
Vladimir

@Louis2 - unfortunately, we did not manage to repeat such reboot issues, please report this to support portal or email to support@mikrotik.com
@chaigeo - the switch should not generate any pause frames when the Flow Control is disabled. We look forward to improving this on upcoming SwOS versions.
@lofwyr - thank you for sharing, the SFP+ initialization after reboot seems to be failing on CRS312 device, we look forward to improving this on upcoming SwOS versions.
@wwwposdev - can you connect a serial cable and see what output does the switch shows when it enters the reboot loop? To install the newest SwOS version, try to follow these steps - Cannot upgrade SwOS.

One of the last standing issues is still having pause frames between CRS328-24P-4S+ and CCS326-24G-2S+ with 3M mikrotik 10GB SFP+ DAC on the trunk SFP+ ports.
The network has 2! physical DHCP servers, one DHCP serving the untaged LAN and 2 tagged vlans from trusted port 24 on the CRS328 the other is on trusted port 24 of the CCS326 having 3 tagged vlans. However there are no tx/rx pauses nor errors on ports 24 of both switches only the trunk between them!

Interresting is that it has "double the amount of pauses" on the CCS326 as in 40 RX pauses with 20 TX pauses on the CRS328. Another mikrotik forum user @Siemer related this issue to DHCP package being dupplicated and forum user @ruffy91 seems to fix it with disabling DHCP & PPPOE snooping "Add information option" 1 around SWOS 2.4/2.5 version.

@EdPa, thanks for the instructions.
SwOS upgrade via RouterOS console worked as described - after loading the RouterOS, try to upgrade SwOS using the
/system swos upgrade

command

It seemed it did not even make any download or maybe even the installation - it was instant 1-2sec response "v 2.11"
It booted on first try and then rebooted SwOS without issues.
So we'll continue with SwOS as planned.

- - -

We noticed there were quite a few posts about dropped packets and errors on switches using RJ45 -> SFP+ ports.
We also had some warnings about dropped packets - Rx MAC Errors, Rx FCS Errors and Tx Pauses.
Our setup:
Unifi USG‑PRO‑4
Unifi US‑16‑XG
Mikrotik CRS328-24P-4S+RM (connected to US‑16‑XG via SFP+ cable & "FiberStore SFP-10GSR-85 A G1804125499")

Errors were reported by a server (netdata warnings) and onother computer connected to Gb ports on CRS328. But errors were registred (displayed on SwOS) only on SFP+ port 2, which is connected to Unifi 16-XG. Today we changed this connection to SFP+ port 1, using same module and cable and errors were mostly gone.
Was it due to SwOS update or switch simply prefers SFP+ port 1 - I do not know.

We then connected another computer with SFP+ cable directly to CRS328 > SFP+ PORT 2 and then tried multiple iperf tests:
Client (SFP+) > US‑16‑XG > CRS328 > Server (Gb RJ45)
Client (Gb RJ45) > CRS328 > Server (Gb RJ45)
Client (SFP+) > CRS328 > Server (Gb RJ45)
Client (SFP+) > CRS328 > US‑16‑XG > Server (SFP+)
GBit transfer speeds are full, 10Gb connections vary from 3-6Gb/s (but that could be due Proxmox, Windows in a VM, other running processes etc.)
Multiple tests did not produce any errors. After 1-2h Errors page looks clean whereas before it started showing Errors as soon as there was any real-life traffic going to the switch.

Maybe it will be helpfull to admins or some of the Mikrotik users.

p.s. thank you for the quick response. We saw some users/posts waiting for months being left with no solutions and some doubts regarding our decission going with Mikrotik already started to emerge.
We did our first regular SwOS update and "the music stopped". On a brand new, semi-flagship switch that is supposed to be the backbone of our small-biz GBit network.
This feels much better.

My hardware is CRS312.
When i use router os.The CPU Temperature is about 50-65c.Fan speed will keep about 4000 rpm.You can fell it's quiet.
But,when i use SWOS .The CPU Temperature is about 48-60c.Fan speed will run at 6000 rpm to 8000 rpm.You can fell it's noise.
This is unreasonable.
I want to use SWOS.Because i don't need to use router.
But my CRS312 is working in my edit room.It affects my work.
Can fix it please.I can't control fan speed.

I want to use SWOS. Because i don't need to use router.

You can configure your CRS to perform exactly the same functions under ROS as it does under SwOS. It will even have the same performance (if configured properly). The only difference would be the management UI.

SwOS UI is more like a switch.Such as, I can easy to look for RTSP VLAN LAG.But ROS is difficult for me to find them.I bought CRS312 just wan to use to switch.

I can't upgrade my CSS106-1G-4P-1S (new RB260GSP) from 2.7p to 2.11.
I have bought it yesterday as brand new device.
I read /viewtopic.php?f=21&t=151881&p=752204&hilit=CSS106+1G+4P+1S#p752231 and it does not help.
Neither on-line "Download & Upgrade" nor "Manual Upgrade" (from swos-css106-2.11.bin) works.
While Manual upgrade I see message "Upgrading... (Please do not interrupt)" within 4-5 seconds and then it reboots. Version remains the same, 2.7p
On-line upgrade shows 2.11 changelog, pressing button "Download & Upgrade" also shows
"Upgrading... (Please do not interrupt)" then "Rebooting.." and nothing changes.

I reset device, repeat upgrade but it remains with version 2.7p
PS
I upgraded it to 2.11 at last.
I have "main" router RB3011 (CAPSMAN manager) and 951G-2HnD as CAPSMAN client. RB260GSP was connected to 951G-2HnD.
Upgrade was failed in such connection. But upgrade was successful when I connected RB260GSP directly to RB3011.

Loaded onto my 260GS and 260GSP, with no issues. My POE switch wasn't allowing me to auto-update (the other worked first time) and this was no surprise as was unable to upgrade it to 2.10 auto or manually last time around. However this time I tried the manual upgrade from Windows IE, vice firefox and the manual upgrade took. So happy!
Removed the poe injector supplied by the capaC on port 3, and now using the switch to power the capac and that seems to be working..****
Also changed the incoming port (from main panel switch) from port 1 to the SFP port (via copper insert/cage)

**** the associated port light for the poe generating port, unlike the others does not flash green, it flashes alternating between amber(orange-yellow) and red.
Q1. Is this normal???

Q2. If all my traffic is vlans, do I need to do anything on the FORWARD PAGE. This seems only designed for port based blocking vice VLANs????
(I have left the default configuration alone _ each port can forward to any other port except itself).

Q3, Is address acquisition fixed and by that I mean using the ports and vlan to limit access to the switch for configuration purposes?? Everytime I tried to limit any of those settings in the past I lost access to the switch and had to reboot and reset the entire switch, real pain in the buttocks! Just wondering if anyone has successfully used these features in 2.11 ??

Understandable. I can understand alternating green and amber but any red should be reserved for a fault condition. Perhaps in Latvia when driving, they stop on a greenlight and go on a red light and on yellow they stand around yelling at each other and nobody moves???

Seriously............
On computer ethernet ports there are usually two leds (on some machines there are no leds) One represents the connection state (fixed light) and the other represents activity. Connection state goes on when an active device is sensed at the other end of the cable (usually a switch). Usually the connection state is green or yellow/orange where green means higher speed and yellow/orange means lower speed. (Available speeds are 10/100/1000 megabits/sec). Speed is negotiated at connection, then is fixed. The activity led is usually green and blinks when data is sensed thru the port (either inbound or outbound).

On cheap switches there is usually a single green led per port indicating connection, which blinks when data is seen passing. Advanced switches can have different meanings for lights depending on user action or configuration.

I am used to green light blinking - activity up to 1gig connection, amber - activity up to 100mg connection.
So MT in their infinite wisdom shows us three colours???????

Green = gig?
Amber=??
Red=Poe??

Not quite - it's a little more convoluted than this:
https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:P ... E-Out_LEDs

Green = connected (whatever speed), no PoE out.
Otherwise: depends. Take a look at the above link.

Thanks mate!! Well the poe port lights up like a christmas tree, red, green, amber. WTF..........

One question related to the capac connected. Its MT router to 260gsp to capac. How come winbox does not see the capac? I can get to it by mac address so not a problem.
I have another capac. Its MT router to 24 port dlink switch to capac (this time it is injector powered). This Capac always shows up on winbox....... puzzling but not urgent
(default pvid is 1 for all devices).

Well, my PC is on the main home VLAN, which is trunked everywhere so no FW blocking there but will double check. All switches and capacs are DHCP served by the home vlan as well.

Never posted about this, but this problem has existed for me since CRS312-4C+8XG with SwOS 2.10 and persists with SwOS 2.11 where when the switch reboots, I must unplug and plug back in the SFP+ 10G modules before the switch passes traffic on those ports.

!!!Pause frame FIX/Workaround!!!

It's a bad workaround but maybe its insightful. After disabling "Auto Negotiation" on both of the SFP+ ports for the CCS326 and CSR328 and force the 10Gb Mikrotik 3M DAC to 1Gb (with "Flow Control" still on) the Rx Pauses and Tx Pauses have not returned yet, normally tens to hundreds an hour. Also RTSP and DHCP PPPOE Snooping "Add Information Option" has been disabled on these ports for these devices.

Hello!

I have a home network built on MikroTik product: router hAPac2 and two switches CSS106-1G-4P-1S and CSS106-5G-1S.
All three devices are connected in a chain
Internet <-> hAPac2 <-> CSS106-1G-4P-1S <-> CSS106-5G-1S
The switch CSS106-5G-1S software update to ver.2.11 passed without problems.
But I can’t upgrade my second switch (CSS106-5G-1S) to version 2.11 :(
I have already tried several methods and upgrade via Internet, and manual upgrade via file swos-css106-2.11.bin.
I also tried to update it by connecting directly to the hAPac2.
And the last thing I tried to do was to do a manual upgrade by connecting it directly to the computer.
I always fail.
When I try to do upgrade via Internet, then I can see message "ERROR: Upgrade failed".
When I try to do an manual upgrade, then I only see the message "Upgrading... (Please do not interrupt)" and nothing else happens.
The switch stops responding to pings
After rebooting on power, it again has an old version of software (ver.2.10).

How can you upgrade this switch? :?:

I tried the manual method a couple of times using firefox and the third attempt was plain jane internet explore and strangely it worked. This particular switch was still at 2.09 because I couldnt get it to accept 2.10.
Personally I think there is a random number generator in these switches that for every XXX failed attempts, one success is permitted.

:)
perhaps this is the most reasonable reason

P.S.
I think that it will be necessary to try one more option with manual upgrade.
First reset the switch to factory settings, then try to upgrsde and if everything works out, restore the backup copy of the settings.
But for this, I first want to gain courage.

Same here RB260GSP unable to upgrade. Furthermore i found that with safari it says on the upgrade page: ERROR: Could not determine latest version, probably no internet connection. Use manual upgrade.
With Chrome i can see the new version. Although upgrade does not work. Switch stops responding to pings and only fix is to remove power and do a hard reboot.

Same thing when upgrading manually.

Hoping for a fix soon.

Also RTSP and DHCP PPPOE Snooping "Add Information Option" has been disabled on these ports for these devices.
No Pause frames/errors for a week!
Reverting the manual 1Gb SFP+ speed back to auto-negotiation 10Gb immidiatly started giving Pause frames again as in:

44 Rx Pauses on CCS326-24G-2S+ and 22 Tx Pauses CSR328-24P-4S+

Hi,
I finally try to update from 2.4 version which are ruining from more than 2 year to see if they solve the problem with multicast but with no success, multicast still not working well. Going back to 2.4 version.
I also can confirm Rx Pauses between CSS326 and CRS326 connected with mikrotik fiber sfp+ on 10g

CRS328 unavaileable from network when booting SwOS. Console shows a small menu, with reset options etc. No liks are up (LED off) and no IPs are accessible (static or DHCP)

Edit/update: started working. Do not know what caused this

Excuse me, but is there possibly an ETA of any sort on when SwOS 2.12 will be released with fixes for the Mikrotik confirmed errors reported here in this topic? Thank you.

@lofwyr - thank you for sharing, the SFP+ initialization after reboot seems to be failing on CRS312 device, we look forward to improving this on upcoming SwOS versions.
@EdPa, Do you have any updates on this SFP+ initialization issue? Can you estimate when a fix will be released? Having to physically unplug the SFP+ cable makes is impossible to remotely manage my network.
