Change CAP name in CAPsMAN

Wed Jul 01, 2020 4:31 pm

I currently have two hAP AC2 devices, one is setup as both CAPsMAN and CAP (though I am not sure if it is working properly as a CAP) and the second is setup in CAP's mode. When watching this video it shows a way to rename CAP's from the CAPsMAN console. However when I try this I am not given the option to rename the CAP as it appears in CAPsMAN.

Has this option been removed? Is there some other way to easily identify which CAP is which in the CAPsMAN console as currently my one CAP that does appear to be working (AP2) keeps changing it's name in CAPsMAN (it is currently called CAP28 but this name keeps going up for a reason I cannot yet determine).

Did you set the identity of the two devices? That is one way to make a distinction between devices.

Yes, under system -> identify I have given them both a unique name (WAP1 and WAP2) but this name is not reflected under CAPsMAN (it only shows cap27 and cap28 which is the 2.4ghz and 5ghz interfaces of WAP2).

/caps-man provisioning
add action=create-dynamic-enabled master-configuration=Master name-format=identity radio-mac=XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX \
slave-configurations=Guest

With this setting it will use the identity of the device followed by a number (of the number of the interface):
