Mikrotik Access Point and ARP problem ...

Hi,

Recently I installed Mktk AP + 20 wireless clients ... everything works well except one weird thing - every 5 min. an IP communication between AP and clients seems to go down (simply, I cann't ping my wireless clients from AP). It usually takes 15-30sec and all of a sudden ping (and IP funcionality as well) comes back to the normal.

What is interesting in a wireless registration section everything looks Ok and Uptime along with Log don't show any reassociations so wireless links stay stable all the time.

AP is running on CM9 card, RouterOS has been upgraded to 2.9.43 and clients are mostly on RouterOS 2.9.26-28.

What I thought that problem might be with "loosing" ARP cache was not because I tried to activate static ARP's on both AP and client sides without success.

On the same wireless router there are 2 more AP's (Atheros based with 5-6 associated clients) but they do not experience described problem.

What can be the cause of a such strange behavior ?

Any help or suggestion would be of a great value.

Thank you,
D.

Most likely an IP address conflict. When you can't ping try deleting the ARP entries.

We have this problem on several sectors.

We have added static ARP entries for the offending clients and this solves the problem.

We do not have an explanation for why this occurs in some situations and not others.

sounds like you are using 'watch-address' and someone else has borrowed your AP's IP address, thus rebooting every 5 minutes (default).

I had that problem for a while. I found out if you disable compression on your ap's it will go away. At least it does on my network anyway.

I know that fixed my problem. I can't remember what version this problem started with but I think it was after I upgraded to 2.9 from 2.8.
