Proper grounding

Sat Jun 09, 2007 8:59 am

Hi all,
is there a schema that explain how to correct ground an external units routerboard based, antennas and all other equipments?
E.G. Should routerboard, enclosure, mast, antennas, ftp cable shield and lighting protectors (http://www.hyperlinktech.com/web/coaxia ... ectors.php) be connected to the same point (ground)? What are the correct procedures to follow in high RF environments like pilons with other RF sources (radios, mobile operators, etc...)?
Thank you

Intresting question, and the answer is that any of the above could work.

It depends on your locations. I have a tower at 1400 feet, it receives direct lighting strikes, however, the only grounding I have on this, is my antenna cables have surge suppression on them, grounded with the shortest distance of wire to the tower again. The tower IS your ground, you want the tower to take everything TO ground. So make sure its that way.

I do have routerboards inside nema enclosers, metal and then that is grounded and strapped to the tower leg, so thats its ground.
