CapAC disabling radio

Thu Dec 24, 2020 5:09 pm

Hello. I have set up a schedule to disable each wlan on my CapACs (ROS 6.47) during the night. Attached file shows the schedule setup. This is all working fine.
This is following health guidelines and is not for security purposes. I would like to know two things regarding this:
1. Does this actually stop the radio from transmitting during the downtime, because that is the objective?
2. Wlan3 and wlan4 shown in the schedule, and disabled during the night, are virtual wlans that have wlan1 as their master-interface. Is it necessary to set up a separate schedule for these virtual wlans or is it sufficient to disable their master-interface?
Thanks.

When you disable master wlan interface, it
  1. shuts off the transmitter and receiver
  2. automatically disables any related slave interfaces

So in your case it's enough to disable wlan1 and wlan2 interfaces.

That's great. Thanks for the confirmation.
One other question now occurs to me. If I want to disable just one of the virtual wlans, I suppose I can do this without it affecting the master interface? So I could disable wlan3, whose master interface is wlan1, without that affecting any of the other wlan interfaces?
