WDS infraestructure: help appreciated

Tue Jul 24, 2007 2:58 pm

This is the diagram of the planned infraestructure of my future network, that will replace the actual one.
Image

Each node have two radios: one for interconnection (5ghz with 12dbi omni antenna) between nodes and one for client service (2.4ghz with 7dbi omni antenna)

It's the first time that I'm going to use WDS to expand my network, so I'm not sure of all things.

The first one is interconnection of nodes. Nodes isn't far away from the others, no more than 1'5 km and I want redundancy if one node fails (and it's possible). So I've thought in use 12dbi 5ghz omni antennas, instead of directional, to interconnect the nodes. Good or bad idea?

The second one is the SSID and channel of the client service radios. Can I use the same for all nodes?

Thanks in advance and suggestions are welcome :D

Which node(s) are connected to backhaul ? You still have single point of failure in a few places too.

Oh, I forgot it. The node connected to backhaul is the one between the hills.

Standard bandwidth for clients is 512/128 kbps.
