My routerboard 150 went crazy all of a sudden, and lost its config, I can no longer log into the device via winbox. I connected a null modem cable and see now that my name of the device now displays C&S-Press Login. I tried the user ID and passwords that I had previously set with no success. I then tried the default admin with no password, no luck! I rebooted the router and entered into setup and reset the router with no luck either.


Could anyone out there give me some ideas where to go to next?

Use netinstall to reinstall routeros, may need to format the nand , although i would just try a reinstall that should fix your problem.

I can't seem to make the netinstall to work, all i have now is the boot loader loking for the kernel via bootp. What happens to the lic after a reload? I dont have any key the mini router came with preloaded level 4 or 5.

id boot it from a serial cable and select netboot once and then Nand , , then when it reboots you will see it in your hyber terminal and get the error messages

I've had issues with the later OS revisions disabling the interfaces during the update process. The only thing you can do is go for the console. That can be interesting though, because the later OS versions mismatch the serial parms by turning on hardware flow control where the BIOS uses no flow control. As a result, your console gets to "Starting Services" and then sits there. The way to overcome this problem is to turn on flow control in your terminal from the get-go, and let it boot blind. You will then get all the way to the login prompts (and beyond, fortunately). Once logged in via serial console, you can go to the interface directory and enable whichever interfaces you need. Run setup and off you go. Routerboard ala network.
