Alignment Mode

Can anyone expand on their experiences using "alignment mode" ? I usually just run a scan from the station side and send a technician up the mast and he basically moves the antenna up, down, left, right until the best signal strength is achieved. Would alignment mode make this easier ? what are the benefits ?

Alignment mode would show you received data even if you set single packet out of thousands (you can't associate under such conditions). It also gives better signal strenght reading, quicker changing.
You aim the antenna faster with align mode.

But then it is essentially exactly the same as just running a scan on the client side, allthough the refresh times are slower.
