How do you optimize a PtP link?

Thu Aug 16, 2007 9:02 pm

hello, :)

I have a couple of long links chained. (about 80 kms each one), they perform somewhat poor so I would like to tune up them.

Nstreme is enabled, the framer policy is set exact size 3200, the data rates are fixed up to 36mbps because the card was changing frequently between 18mbps up to 48mbs.

Does anybody has tested "burst time" and compression along with nstreme?

Then how do you optimize a PtP link?

thanks

hello, I am only passing about 2 MB, but doing bandwidth test I see the link is sometimes only capable to transfer up to 2.5MB, so I am reaching my limit.

I am using a RB532 and I think I don´t need more processing power because the CPU usage is about 35%.

the 70km 5ghz link
ubn_sr5 00156D520167 00:15:6D:52:01:67 yes -73dBm... 24Mbps
ubn_sr5 venta_guacha 00:15:6D:52:01:61 no -76dBm... 18Mbps

the 74km 2.4ghz link
senao400mw 00026F42DB99 00:02:6F:42:DB:99 no -71dBm... 36Mbps
senao400mw 00026F44008F 00:02:6F:44:00:8F yes -62dBm... 36Mbps

5ghz links have 32db solid dish
2.4ghz links have 24dbi grid

both links are in 10 mhz to improve link quality. That i would like to do is some tuning in the wireless parameters like "compression" and "burst time"
