Monitor l2tp links  [SOLVED]

Fri Oct 29, 2021 9:27 am

Hello,

Trying to monitor some l2tp links that feed into one central location.
Everything works OK.
The problems is if a l2tp link goes down for whatever reason, The Dude will default the monitored interface to another available interface and never recover, even after the l2tp link comes back online.
The link is monitored via RouterOS mastering type and the selected device is the central VPN server.
Anyone monitoring l2tp links and found a way around this problem?

Thank you.

later edit:
It seems I am not able to find a solution until I open a forum topic.
The fix is: when creating the link, device should be the remote client and not the server.

Hello,

I have faced the same situation as you, and when the dynamic l2tp interface is going up, it created a dynamic and unique implicit ID, that snmp used.
So whenever its going down, and up again, an another id is created and snmp is not gonna recover.

So yeah, your edit is right. you must monitor remote client and not server.

However, if anyone has found a viable solution for this, consider sharing it here please! :D
