error-info-page for customers

Tue Aug 28, 2007 7:36 pm

Hello,

If i have an error somewhere on my backhault, the whole net behind this router gets offline.
My wireless customers ar still connected to their local APs.
It is a full routed wireless network.

I would like my local AP to:
->recognize that there is a problem
->redirect all http-requests to an infopage stored on the ap itself.

I tryed to solve the problem with autoenabled-hotspot but this fails because hotspot does not work without an valid DNS-server.

HowTo redirect all requests on port:80 to local MT-webpage?
or
HowTo answer all incoming dns-requests with one specific ip?

Best rergards

using mikrotik webproxy you can set up redirect-to rule that will be enabled by netwatch (to know that link is down) that will redirect all the requests to place you desire

Hello janisk,
thank you verry much for the quick reply.
Unfortunatelly i did not get it. :(

Remember:
My system is offline! There is no valid DNS-Server anymore.
My users want to browse "www.mikrotik.com" and their machine do not know the valid IP off this domain.
The browser gets an DNS-timeout before requesting http.

Do I miss something?

Would you please give me a step by step instruction how to redirect all http-requests to a locally strored website of a router that is not connected to the Internet?

Seems that this not longer about scripting issues.
Maybe someone wants to move this topic to a better place.

Thank you
mateng
