routing and bridge interface

Thu Aug 30, 2007 5:15 pm

Hi Im new here. Im trying to setup a mikrotik routeros 3.0rc3 in my computer to use it as gateway

I just installed mikrotik so it has cero configuration
I have 3 ethernet interfases, eth1 (lan with ip 192.168.0.101) wich i want to bridge with ether3 (onboard lan with wan interfase), eth2 is not in use
i manage to set up the first with 192.168.0.101/24 so i have access from webbox for example, but the second the wan has to have this parameters ip 209.99.234.11/24 gateway 209.99.234.1 and dns 209.99.224.24 primery and 209.99.224.24 sec
i dont know how to do that, I can only set the ip just like in ether1 but as soon as I try to brigde eth1 and eth3 my lan crashes, I lost internet connection and I cannot even ping my own lan.

My current server is set at 192.168.0.1, Im trying to change it for the mikrotik, so when everything else, the bandwidth, packets filter and pppoe connection are set up I will change the ip from 192.168.0.101 in my mikrotik for 192.168.0.1 and do the change

both interfaces are connected to the same switch and I can connect to winbox from anyone, what I been doing is entering by console and reset all configuration every time the bridge bring the all lan down.
What am I doing wrong? Should I have to bridge the interfaces? Ive seen examples doing the bridging with ether1 and wlan1, shouldnt be the same?

thanks for help noobs and excuse my writing.

I'm not sure why you have both Ethernet interfaces connected to the same switch, this would surely create a loop?

I would have thought you only need to connect ether1 to the switch and then add both IP addresses to ether1. You shouldn't need a bridge.

both interfaces were connected to the switch because my wireless suscriber give me 3 publics ip but it need to connect the suscriber to the switch and every server to the switch too in order to get the internet and the ether1 back to the switch to use the mikrotik

anyway the problem is fix, only needed to nat the wan interface and add the gateway to work. Thank you for your help anyway
