Just a short review after the first few weeks, and improvement suggestions:

A CRS610-8P with RouterOS would have been the way to go. Not so much for the routing but for stuff like:

• Schedule PoE active: disable caps during out of office hours
• Scripting
• Port Extension
• Romon
• DHCP Server

Size: It is just a bit too wide. So it does not fit in a 10' Rack, nor do 2 fit next to each other in a 19' Rack.
Was it really that hard to make it a bit deeper, but not so wide?

The CSS610-8P (and CSS610-8G) is built based on the Marvell 88E6390X switch chip.
SwitchOS lite runs on a small CPU integrated into the switch chip, what makes the very low price point possible, compared to other brand's managed PoE 2x10GB switches. But the drawback is it has not enough resources to run full SwitchOS or even RouterOS.

Technicaly, the RB5009UPr+S+IN is close to a CRS610-8P. It contains a slightly better switch chip (88E6393), combined with a powerful CPU and enough Flash/RAM to run a full featured RouterOS.
Granted, it only has 1 SFP+ port, as one of the switch chuips's 10G ports is "wasted" for the 2.5GB ether1. But beside that, it is pretty much a router version of the CSS610-8P. And it fits into 10" and 19" racks.

Your are right, the RB5009UPr+S+IN is much better choice for my use case.

A CRS610-8P-2S+IN would be nice.

- like the CRS310-1G-5S-4S+IN, but with 5 to 8 1000T ports
- with 802.3at PoE+
- with build-in power supply

I don’t need the L3/routing features RouterOS supports, but SwOS has no CLI/SSH/serial console.
