Hello,

We have a problem with VRRP and IPv6.

We have a 2 VRRP interfaces between 2 routers, one for IPv4 and one for IPv6.
IPv4 we don't have any problem, IPv6 we have a problem on 1 of the 2 routers.

The interface stops working after x days and go in to a invalid state.
Earlier it works again after reboot, but now (on v7.6) it don't come up anymore.

On the second router (with same settings) it works without problem.

Config:
add interface=vlan750-public name=vrrp-vlan750-ipv6 priority=250 v3-protocol=ipv6 vrid=61

I cannot find why it going to invalid state..

Kind regards,

Sander

Correction it looks like the whole IPv6 stops working, or anyway stops forwarding traffic.

Also OSPF on IPv6 is not working anymore.

i disabled ipv6 thorugh IPv6 -> settings -> Disable IPv6
i Re-enabled IPv6

It start working and also i see now a fe80 address on each interface..

I don't know what was going wrong but it looks like whole IPv6 stops working

A bit of time has passed so I hope you were able to fix the issue.

IPv6 + ROS7 had all sorts of issues at the time of the original post. This was due to MTU.

These were fixed in ROS 7.9 although at the time of this post ROS 7.11.2 is the latest stable.

The only problem i have sometimes is that when there are a lot of route changes (during BGP down or up for example) IPv6 stops working.

The route loses the fe80 addresses and only have the static IPv6 adresses but no traffic is working any more, also OSPFv3 stops working.

I can fix it without a reboot by disable and enable again IPv6 under IPv6 > Settings > Disable IPv6

We are running on 7.11.2
