RB5009 USB problem

Dear all,

I have just bought a new MikroTik RB5009 a few days ago, updated to the latest stable version 7.7, and I have a problem when using a USB drive (specifically a SanDisk Ultra Fit 3.1 64GB formatted in ext4 from within the router).

In the System/Disks menu I see two usb interfaces: USB 3.20 5000Mbps (slot "usb1") and USB 2.10 480Mbps (slot "usb2") (see attached screenshot).

The problem is that every time I reboot the router, the drive seems to alternately connect to a different interface, so it mounts either on usb1 or usb2, and the containers don't work when it gets mounted on the usb2 slot.

Is this behavior normal? Is there a way to force the drive to always mount on slot1 using the faster usb 3.2 interface?

Thank you

reply-ing to an old post, but did you in the meantime found a proper fix for this issue ? I'm suffering from the same :(
I found another thread on this forum about the same: viewtopic.php?p=1006351&hilit=usb+drive#p1006351 but that also doesn't seem to have a proper solution.

I got reply yesterday from support on my ticket that they have confirmed the issue specifically with SanDisk USB sticks.
They are looking for a solution.

Can you indicate what kind of usb-disk you're using ?
I'll just buy another stick, these are cheap, so not Sandisk anymore but what brand is ok then ?
For example would this one work ? https://tweakers.net/pricewatch/1843878 ... -rood.html
Or this one (even cheaper): https://tweakers.net/pricewatch/1618336 ... ilver.html

Don't know what brand will or will not work.
Can't tell exact model of mine, router is 200km away and can't read the type remotely.

Only for the record, Sandisk is probably the (only) outsider.

Most (if not all) other brands use "commonly available commercially" chips[1], and "standard" architectures/PCB's while Sandisk is known for using "proprietary" stuff or anyway they "protect" them very tightly, AFAIK it is one of the few (possibly only) manufacturer for which there are not (official or leaked/third party) diagnostic/utility/manufacturer tools.

Usually each brand have tens of different models, and each one, even a same model but different version/revision may use one chip or the other.

Kingston is traditionally linked to Phison, so very likely those sticks have a Phison controller inside which are used by a number of other brands, so an incompatibility with Mikrotik would have probably been discovered and reported already.

[1] *like* Alcor Micro, Etron, Asmedia, Phison, SMI, Skimedi, etc.

ok, I'll just order one of these kingston drives and see if these behave better combined with my router, thanks for the feedback.
