Nobody seems to be able to answer this question usually even if you give them what type of device you are using on both ends of the spectrum. However they do say lab tested 1 mile could be more could be less, im hoping more im guesing to get a mile you need a directional anteanna on the clients end. But that is in the best of conditions. It does depend on alot of things, and to be honest i am not sure but i will be hooking up a similiar setup myself and WILL definetly report back because this seems to be a hard issue for most people to give advice on. Best of Luck. -Jordan

In a random neighborhood (houses / partly wooded) with r52h and a good quality onmi antenna at 35 feet you should be good to 100 yards just about anywhere and up to 300 yards (about 1/4 mile) with laptop with integrated wifi. With any type of enhanced laptop card/antenna and more open area maybe 2-3 times that. Anything more than that I'd say is pretty unrealistic for hotspot usage.

Myself - I don't count on more than 0.25 miles for any given hotspot coverage area. With any kind of obstructed environment I count on half that.
