correct backup and restore procedure to a twin router

Hello

we have 2 rb4011igs+5hacq2hnd

Once we configure the first, what is the correct procedure for exporting ALL settings (including lan, wlan, firewall, everything) and for importing to the second router so that the two devices are exactly the same and interchangable in case of failure of the first? Basically the two routers have to be identical, twins.

I tried to make the backup from the files tab of the first router and then restore on the second router: many parts (including the wlan) haven't been reconfigured.

Thanks

Binary backup works for THE SAME device. Should be not used to restore on the other one as e.g. MAC adresses do not match.

Configuration export is supposed for interdevice restore process but if you have configured any setting per local mac then import to
the other device could not success.

Search the Forum for backup restore keywords

Yeah it's kind of annoying the backup doesn't restore the wifi interfaces. What other stuff did it not restore for you?

I usually restore from backup, reset the mac addresses of all physical interfaces and restore the wlan interfaces manually.

It is important that the router you restore on is physically the same as the router you made the backup on.
Unfortunately, MikroTik often releases new devices (new hardware) under the same type number as one before.
It may be that your two routers, despite both having the type number rb4011igs+5hacq2hnd, are not the same.
Check under System->RouterBOARD, there is a "revision number". Is it the same for both routers?
If not, the backup/restore method can not be used. export/import can, but it is not complete.
