Hello.
I have a old HaP lite at home and i love to work with it.
Is my equipment compatible / possible to upgrade to OS 7.11? Is it stable? I have installed 6.49.10, but on stable it does not show 7.11, only on development, i would not want to damage my equipment, so if possible i would like to know how can i upgrade safely!
The reason I would like to upgrade is to install Wireguard VPN.
Thank you in advance for all the help.

Not recomended ... RAM in hAP lite is on the lower end of suggested/required for running ROS v7, storage size as well. Due to both you won't be able to enjoy much of the new (optional) things in v7 while performance wise v6 is likely slightly better on this device than v7. If you want a lab device just to play with v7, grab a more modern device. Preferably with arm architecture (either 32 or 64 bit) with at least 64MB RAM. If you'd like to test new features (containers, ax wireless), then you'll need even beefier device with at least 256MB RAM and 64MB storage (when runing containers, specs should be even better).

Thank you.
But in that case why is the software of the RouterOS current release the 7.11.2 version (download on HaP lite
https://mikrotik.com/product/RB941-2nD#fndtn-downloads)?

7.11.1 fixed 7.11 bugs but introduced DHCP server bug resolved in 7.11.2 version.

So is the Current release is version 7.11.2 is means its safe to upgrade Hap Lite from 6.49.10 to that one ? Or that means that version is just RC (although is indicated as current release) for the equipment, but not yet "stable"?
Sorry for all my doubts, i am not an experienced user, just want to create a VPN to connect my Android 13 phone to home... I have PPTP, but Android 13 does not allow that anymore! So I am search for the best solution and it seams that the easiest one is the wireguard VPN.
I would appreciate any help you can provide
Thanks.

DON'T INSTALL RouterOS v7 (on this device, I do love it)!
Why...your hAP lite is underpowered, though it will run and is supported.
If you really need some functionality not present in v6, you should get new hardware.

Let's say you have a low-end PC from year 2005 ... it ran Windows 7 really well. Now you want to install Windows 10 without upgrading any of its hardware. It probably might work, but I bet it would be less responsive. And it wouldn't be able to run all the modern additional software.

Ultimately it is not recommended by Mikrotik, check
https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/ ... ding+to+v7, second note:
“Note: We do not recommend running v7 on hardware that does not have at least 64 MB of RAM.”
I have been running ROS7 on a hAP lite myself, with IPv6, Wireguard, OSPF etc. and it was super unstable, and in the end I reverted to ROS6.

Thank you all for your advice and experience.
Well, the only reason i was considering the change is because of a VPN to my Android 13 phone.
Any chance you may have a tutorial so i can follow to create a VPN (non PPTP) on my HAP lite?
Thanks in advance.
