Detect link down and perform action

Hello,
I'm looking for a solution to forcibly expire/remove a PIM Neighbor entry (Routing/PIM/neighbors) when an interface link is taken down.
One way I can remove the PIM Neighbor entry is by disabling the respective PIM Interface (routing/PIM/Interfaces) and then re-enabling it.
But I don't know how to detect the link-down event and then execute the relevant script.
Can this be done?
OS is ARM 6.49.10
