Hi All

We've just received our first batch of L009's and found that the Out of Box experience now had a random password, per device, on a sticker on the bottom.

If you factory reset the device, it resets back to this random password.

I get why Mikrotik have done this with all of the pressures they're had regarding security, but there doesn't seem to be a way to disable this other than perhaps using the custom config and flashing each device as it comes in to stock.

Can anyone at Mikrotik shed some light on this one?

Hi Greg,
I believe you can build your own default config.
You will need to create an account on Mikrotik.com
Under Other -> Branding package maker
Upload it to your Tik and restart

Thanks - It was what I was thinking may be the case. Just was looking for some more clarification from Mikrotik around the decision to do this.

Short answer: EU regulations.
(also UK, which BTW is NOT part of EU anymore, and California)
